Today's tab is If Only You Were Lonely I know, I'm kinda wimping out, but I wanted from the start to have songs from beginner to expert level. Don't worry, more complicated stuff is coming. But this song is worth learning; it's fun for beginning players and expert alike. There's more turnarounds and fun stuff than you think! A word on these tabs in particular: There are 2 guitars in this song, both acoustic. One is Paul's 12 string that's playing the rhythm. That's fine, that's nice and loud. There's another 6 string lead underneath playing stuff. It plays through the whole song. The mixing is horrible on this; the lead guitar is inaudible save for the parts between verses and is really only cranked at the end. With that in mind, I'm going to tab out the stuff I can hear, but the little fiddly stuff while Paul is playing, I'm gonna make it easy on myself and say 'Non, monsieur!". And it's not like it's really a)essential to the song; I never noticed it during the singing until I sat down to do these tabs and b) REALLY difficult. The main stuff I can hear is playing some root notes during the chorus and some fiddling around on the G string. It's actually pretty crappy lead guitar playing, which makes me think Paul did it, not Bob (the staying around the head of the neck, lots of open strings is pretty much how Paul likes to play). We'll give the guy a break, he was just a kid! 99% of you, I would just forget about all the leads, trust me! I denotated that second C (played as a bar chord: bar your first finger across the third fret, yr second takes the D-B strings at the 5th) as such so you'd know when to play it - it's only played during the chorus. A word on the rhythms: very country and western stylin', where you're hitting the chords, but it's "chunky", or sloppy.
