This is a tab done by Jason "Louis XIV" Warden for thee esteemed Color Me Impressed (colormeimpressed.com) website. The only caveat is to leave this upper portion intact. If you have corrections, suggestions, hot pix email me at jason (at) benalto doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot (com). A'ight? Today's tab is ALL SHOOK DOWN, from the album of the same name. Fairly simple but also really weird - it's one of those songs where what you think you're hearing isn't exactly what you're hearing (you'll see what I mean). Another odditiy about it is the guitar part is SO BARE - there's pedal bass and stuff floating around, giving it weight and movement, but by itself it's really strange. This song is in Open E tuning: E (high E string) B G# E B E (low E string) The arrangement of the song is pretty simple - there's a verse section, and a chorus section, and that's about it. While play through this verse, it's important to remember while going up the neck with the singing, Paul only picks the high e and g strings - the strumming only occurs when he's not singing. Uhm...listen to the record. Or, watch! ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- 2-----4----7--------4---2---4-4s2-2-------------------------------- --------------------0---0---0-0-0-0-------------------------------- 3-----5----8--------5---3---5-5s3-3-------------------------------- ----------------------------0-0-0-0-------------------------------- ----------------------------0-0-0-0------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- Holly-wood cops shoot each 2-----4----7--------4---2----4s2--------------------------------- --------------------0---0----0-0--------------------------------- 3-----5----8--------5---3----5s3--------------------------------- -----------------------------0-0--------------------------------- -----------------------------0-0-------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- other in bed and i 2-----4----7-----------4---2---4-4s2-2-------------------------------- -----------------------0---0---0-0-0-0-------------------------------- 3-----5----8-----------5---3---5-5s3-3-------------------------------- -------------------------------0-0-0-0-------------------------------- -------------------------------0-0-0-0------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- wouldn't go to see 'em they put the 2---------4----7--------4---2----4s2--------------------------------- ------------------------0---0----0-0--------------------------------- 3---------5----8--------5---3----5s3--------------------------------- ---------------------------------0-0--------------------------------- ---------------------------------0-0-------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- checkbook to my head important to look at what's going on, the difference between lines. Well, it's hard to tell with non-rhymthic tabbing, but the first line of the verse has a complex kinda ending with the non-vocal parts and the second part is much simpler. If you listen to the song, you will see what I mean!! So that's the verse, and they all go like that. Now the tricky part! The chorus! Before learning this, I advise you to go listen to the song. LISTEN TO IT. What are you listening for? Hammer-ons! A The fifth gripping week B an absolute must A one of the years E best ain't say'in much A throw'in us trunks B C#min as we're starting to drown (no chord) all shook down... (back into verse riff) It would be pretty strange (though not impossible, if one had the patience) to tab out the music with the words, so I just tabbed out the music there and then where it 'went' lyrically. I strongly advise you to take a good listen to what the guitar's doing...once you get the funky rhyhtm (and it IS funky) it'll hit ya like a wet squirrel across the face! And that is ....THE SONG!
